Maintaining The Flex Of Your Right Knee

In (Photo A) the knees are slightly flexed.  At the top of the backswing the right knee should still be flexed at almost the same angle as it was at address. The knees are also very level at the top of the backswing position (Photo B) and, from the view down the target line (Photo B), you should not be able to see any space between your knees.  Maintaining your right knee flex allows for proper loading of your body weight into your right side.

However, if you allow your right knee to straighten (Photo C), your left knee will increase its flex and, from the view down the target line (Photo C), you will see a lot of space between your knees at the top of the backswing.  When this occurs too much weight is supported on your left leg causing you to be unable to load your weight properly on your right side.    At the top of the backswing, if your weight is not loaded properly, it will be difficult for you to create a powerful and consistent downswing.

*All of the references above would be addressing a right handed golfer.  Of course if you are left handed the opposite would apply.

I hope this tip assists you in your pursuit of lifelong game improvement.
